MUMBAI: Diwali is one of India’s most treasured festivals and it marks the victory of good over evil. It illuminates homes with light, spreads happiness and positivity, and brings families and friends together to forgive, reconnect, and embrace new beginnings.
TellyChakkar.com got in touch with actor Pratham Kanwar, currently playing the role of Nirvair in Jhalee, he is also Known for shows like Beti Hamari Anmol (as Rishi), Yeh Hai Chahatein, Meet, Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega, and Humkadam wherein he spoke about his Diwali plans, childhood memories and more.
Chatting exclusively with TellyChakkar, Pratham said, "Diwali has always been a very special festival for me. It is truly the biggest celebration in India. I don’t usually make any grand plans for it — for me, Diwali is about tradition. We perform Laxmi Puja at home, meet family and friends, and spend the night playing cards or fun games together. It is believed that Goddess Laxmi arrives on Diwali night, so we keep the door open and try to stay awake as long as possible to welcome prosperity and positivity into the home."
Talking about his childhood days and celebration of Diwali festival, Pratham said, "When I think of my Diwali memories from childhood, I really miss those days. We used to live in Dadar back then, and I loved making rangoli with my sister. Every day we would create a new design by hand — no stencils, no ready-made patterns like today — just pure creativity and effort. Bursting crackers with friends, going to Shivaji Park Chowpatty to light rockets, and celebrating with our society members was a big part of our Diwali. All the kids, elders, and neighbors would stay up the whole night making flower garlands for the next day’s puja, and we would sleep on the terrace under the open sky. Those moments were truly unforgettable."
He concluded saying, "I really miss those simple and joyful days. This year, I will be shooting during Diwali, so it will be a working festival for me. But I’m sure my co-actors and I will celebrate together like a family on set and make it special in our own way."
