Ekta Kapoor and Karan Johar inspire ace TV producer Rajan Shahi to venture into movie business

After having a successful journey of two decades in the television industry, Rajan Shahi, the founder of Director’s Kut is on the threshold of embarking on another fruitful journey, this time on the big screen. Shahi, who has given TV viewers successful shows like Bidaai, Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, Amrit Manthan is now all set to announce and unveil his film banner. Says the ace producer, “Two decades might seem like a small time but I have seen a lot in the industry. Technically and from the angle of creativity the industry has changed a lot. Now I want to do something which I can be proud of in the coming years. My maternal grandfather late actor Jairaj is an inspiration and I want to take his legacy forward. He always wanted me to make films and that dream of his I would be fulfilling now.” Rajan also adds, “I love the concept of multi-tasking. When I look at people like Ekta Kapoor and Karan Johar, I admire their ability to tackle and handle many jobs at a time. Ekta started with television and is now a successful film producer and Karan is a successful director, producer, judge who can juggle well into various arenas. They are inspirations to me." Rajan Shahi has himself shed weight in the bargain to strike a chord with the growing demands of the industry. Talking about his trim body, he states, "After every few years you have to not only rejuvenate, re-invent your work but also yourself. And in today's times the producer is not only a financer but is also the face and the image of the company”. Rajan who was earlier a director has directed hit shows like Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi, Hamare Tumhare, Rishtey, Kareena Kareena, Reth, Saat Phere, Mamtaa, Millee, Virasaat and Saathi Re.
