MUMBAI: Homework and revision will most probably continue all your life, laughs actress Ekta Tiwari, who is currently seen as Flower in Gudiya Rani on Dangal TV. She says that it is very important to keep working on yourself to keep growing. “When it comes to improvement in your craft—for any craftsman, including artists, writers, directors, cinematographers, or others—it involves homework and revision. This includes reading, writing, watching both old and new content, and creating. Then, take inspiration and implement it mentally and physically, with soul freedom, without copying, being bound, or influenced by anything,” she says.
She adds, “Self-updates are mostly through social media nowadays and directly from the concerned person or media house. I’m not a gossip person, so I’m not updated in that case at all.” She says that it is very important to explore areas around your craft too. “I’m very inclined toward writing, then directing, and then producing. But I’m not in a hurry. My first poem, "Shabdome Anekta Ekta Sang," is on the way,” she says.
Ask her how she handles constructive criticism and incorporates feedback into her performances, and she says, “I do it very positively. I use both my ears. I try to let go of things that don’t make sense to me. And I say ‘try’ because sometimes something gets stuck in your brain and heart, causing an ache. But with time, that also goes away, though it leaves a hole behind,” she says.
She adds, “I am a hyperactive and multitasking person, and I’ve been that way since childhood. I feel lucky about it when the time and situation call for it. My understanding of the given script, character, and content helps me add little nuances to the graph and journey of the character.”
