Gracy began her career from Balika Vadhu and now she is essaying the role of Amrit in Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye with Zaan Khan and Kunal Jaisingh. Apart from television, she has been a part of some critically acclaimed films like Thappad, Commando 3, and Begum Jaan.

In an exclusive chat, Gracy shares some amusing insights about her character Amrit and the amount of preparation that went behind crafting it. She says, “When it comes to speaking Hindi, I barely speak the language. At first, I used to have my scripts in English and Hindi and then translate everything one by one. I had a tutor for Hindi and Punjabi as I didn’t know how to speak the language properly. I remember Shashi ma’am had also given me Hindi grammar books to brush my skills.”

“Amrit as a character has been one the most challenging roles I have played, she has so many emotions, adding the language. In terms of aesthetics, I had to keep my eyebrows unframed, grew my hair. I had to put on some weight but that wasn’t possible so I was given loose clothes to look more Punjabi. To stay in the character I had also stopped reading English novels; avoided speaking in English to develop an accent for Amrit,” she added.

Sony TV’s Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye has become one of the most celebrated shows on television. The show has not only touched hearts, reminded a lot of people about their past. The cast leaves no stone unturned to portray the dreadful partition like a living memoir. Amdheer’s love is a soothing breeze in the heat of history.
