MUMBAI: Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia is a well-known actress in the television industry who rose to fame with her performance in the serial Choti Sarrdaarni.
The actress returned to the small screens shortly after that with the reality show Bigg Boss 16, where her fame reached another level. She was lauded for speaking about mental health issues.
She came out of the house winning a great role in the Balaji movie, LSD 2 and so many more projects have been offered to her since.
Since her stint on Bigg Boss 16, fans have been waiting to watch Nimrit in a new project and she is back with a bang with a heartbreaking music video with Rohit Zinjurke. The video is sung by maestro Shreya Ghoshal and Vishal Mishra.
TellyChakkar got in touch with the star to talk about many topics, including her upcoming projects and so much more.
When asked about her physical transformation and what the impact of that has been, she said, “I tell you, I will never give any fitness tips ever to anyone. In the past one and half years, I have gone from sizes of XS to XL and it’s not a thing to laugh at. I reached that size, not because I was not working out. My anti-depressants and their side effects were the reason for the weight gain. So, a lot of people, even while I was inside the house, made fun of that and a lot of comments were passed. There was a lot of body shaming, which is very ridiculous if you ask me.”
She further said, “I am someone who has always worked out and tried to eat right. I can proudly say that I have seen all of the shapes and sizes. So, when I gained that weight, it wasn’t because I wasn't working out. I went to so many nutritionists, so many psychiatrists and consultants. I was so frustrated because I was working so hard but could not see any results. It was during the time I was going to be a part of one of India’s biggest reality shows. You don’t feel confident about yourself because your body is not the way you want it to be. I feel happy that I am going back to my normal size and I have to give credit to myself because I had the will to decide that I won’t touch those medicines ever. It has taken a lot of time, but now that the hardwork is finally paying off, I am happy”.
Talking about her upcoming projects she said, “Very honestly, I really can’t say anything and frankly, sometimes we are contractually bonded. I generally believe that your work speaks and when it comes out, everybody will get to watch you. There is really not a lot to say right now”.
Nimrit will be seen in the music video Zihal-E-Miskin, opposite Rohit Zinjurke.
