MUMBAI: Ashok Lokhande has done quite a lot of shows and we can say that he is a powerhouse of talent when it comes to acting.
“Kaatelal & Sons has turned out to be a very different show for me and I do not think I have played such a role in my career. I have played very positive and soft hearted characters and this role is of a typical Haryanvi male chauvinist father who has traditional beliefs. I believe that this is a central character as the story revolves around him. The negative force driving Garima and Susheela to do the things that they are doing is due to me as I create obstacles.
I am fortunate to get this character during the time when most of my business and projects shut down due to the lockdown. I had decided that I will not do daily soaps as I have done many and was also tired playing the same characters. I was reluctant and thought that I would do films, webseries or theatre but after sitting at home for around 8 months I realized and that I should take up a show. Fortunately, Kaatelal & Sons landed in my lap where the concept was good and the character was better and it brought a refreshing change to what I had been doing so far.
Speaking about his equation with his co-stars and on-screen daughters portrayed by Megha Chakroborty and Jiya Shankar, he shared, “I share a very good bond with both of them and they are very intelligent girls. My bond on-screen very naturally gets inclined towards them as a father because I have a daughter in real life and I can relate to the things they do to have their way.”
