MUMBAI: Actress Swati Rajput is currently seen playing the role of Diya Mathur in Star Plus' popular drama series Yeh Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar.

The show started airing on the small screens a few months ago and it is all set to go off-air.

The viewers have seen how Swati's character has seen a lot of changes ever since the beginning.

TellyChakkar got in touch with Swati who spoke at length about her personal and professional life and much more.

The show's concept was on a girl facing issues because of her dark skin and the makers tried to spread a positive message through Diya's character. Do you feel the makers were successful to put forth that message?

I feel that the message has been spread across people. When the show started, I received a lot of messages from girls who had faced similar issues in their lives. A lot of girls have said that they feel their real life is depicted in the show. I feel that people have connected with the show and also my character.

Do you feel this kind of concept is apt for a daily soap as it might get repetitive with time?

Of course, you can't keep showing the same thing for a very long time. But also depends on the audience if they have taken that message or not. We can't keep feeding them the same thing. We can also give them the idea that this kind of struggle is faced by such girls and they should fight for it. We haven't repeated the same problems again and again. In the first half of the show, Diya faced problems because of her skin colour. Later, whatever problems she faced after her marriage was completely different. So, I don't feel it is repetitive at all.

Now that the show is going off-air, what are your plans? Are you taking a break or taking up the next work?

I am open to taking up good work which comes my way. I have been auditioning for a few things and there are few narrations that I have heard. So I am open to work immediately after this show.

Swati has worked in shows like Tum Dena Saath Mera, Agent Raghav, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon Ek Baar Phir, Vodka Diaries, and Prithvi Vallabh among others.
