MUMBAI: Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is one of the most loved shows on television. It has been long running and while Harshad Chopda and Pranali Rathod mark their exit from the show has Abhimanyu and Akshara, they make way for the new generation which will be played by Samridhi Shukla as Abhira Birla – Akshara and Abhinav’s daughter and Shehzada Dhami – in the lead role as Abhira’s love interest.
Ami Trivedi has been associated with Director’s Kut Productions from almost two years now and as the show takes a leap, she opened up about her experience shooting for the show in a candid conversation with TellyChakkar.
Ami shared, “My experience has been wonderful. I am a part of the show which is very huge and it has been a rollercoaster ride. I would like to thank my producer Rajan Shahi for offering me this show when I really genuinely needed it. I really wanted to come back to work and somewhere down the line I wanted to be associated with DKP. When I auditioned for Anupamaa, I realized that I wanted to work with the DKP family. I have got an opportunity to explore every variation through my character, Manjari.”
Shedding light on her character’s journey and growth so far, Ami said, “The character of Manjari initially was a very meek and subdued woman whose agenda in life was only to make sure that her son was happy. Her son was everything to her. Most of the time she was an underdog but from there, the character grew to becoming someone who is very strong-headed and stubborn. It has been quite a transformation and I as an actor have thoroughly enjoyed playing the part. I am not going to debate on the right and wrong of the character but as an actor, I have got to try every shade.”
TellyChakkar questioned Ami about her bond with Harshad and Pranali and how much she would miss them.
Ami expressed, “It has been very nice. To be honest, it is very rare to come across people who are thorough professionals. There is not one element on the set which I can take as a reason to leave early from the set. I enjoy spending time and shooting on the set. It is a wonderful unit, team and co-actors. Every member has contributed in uplifting the scenes. There is no person who I have spotted who is trying to overshadow the other. Infact, we all help each other to improvise the scenes.
I am very emotional about Harshad and Pranali making their exit and will miss them as they are very dear to me. I don’t know whether I will be making an exit too or not but just the idea of not being Manjari Birla gets me very emotional.”
Opening up on Samridhi Shukla and Shehzada Dhami playing the leads in the fourth generation of the show, Ami averred, “Well, I know Samriddhi because she is a dubbing artist and so am I. She is a brilliant voice artist and I have seen some of her work on television by which I feel she is a fantastic artist. So I wish the entire team all the luck. I’ve been a part of the legacy and they are going to have a wonderful time being a part of the show too.”
Well said Ami!
