Balaji’s Desi Twilight on Star One has finally got its main lead. Gaurav Bajaj has been cast to play the lead role of Abhay while the search for Piya, the female lead is still on. Our source says, “Gaurav has been finalised to play the role of Abhay. The female lead is yet to be finalised. The show has five main characters and Gaurav is one of them. Balaji has roped in several fresh faces to play important characters.” Revealing the storyline a bit the source says, “It is a desi adaptation of Twilight. The story revolves around three sisters; Piya who would be cast opposite Abhay, Nisha (Priya Wal) and Panchi (Vahbiz Dorabjee). Piya’s mother dies when she is eight years old. She meets Abhay during her schooling in Dehradun. She befriends Nisha (Priya Wal), the daughter of a rich industrialist, Mr Dabriyal. She in unaware that he is actually her father, who has now remarried. Dabriyal later under some circumstances finds out that Piya is his own daughter and that is how the story progresses. Meanwhile Abhay is the handsome hunk who belongs to a good family. His character would be a mystery and he would be shown following and meeting Piya every now and then.” Manoj Chandila of Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil fame would be playing the character of Danish, the bad guy in the show. Panchi is cast opposite him. Gaurav was last seen in a movie named ‘Vroom Vroom Vroom’ where he played the title role and has also done a few commercials. The shooting for the show has not yet begun. The show was supposed to go on air on May 26 but now has been pushed to June 14.
