Mamma’s food is the best birthday treat for both the birthday girl and boy. Pratyusha Banerjee who you had last seen in Colors’ Balika Vadhu did savour delicious dishes at the party she organised for her friends last night, but today she is looking forward to tasting her favourite Bengali dishes which her mother is preparing for her. Her mom is making alu posto (potato in poppy seeds), fried potatoes cooked in Bengali style and chicken.
Her mom gifted her chocolates and a salwar suit. Her father presented her a bracelet. Her friends gifted her chocolates and wine bottles.
Pratyusha was asleep when we called her. According to her mother her ideal birthday vacation will be to Bangkok and Goa with her friends. In the evening she will cut another cake with her family.
Talking about her childhood birthdays, her mom said, “They were quite like the way her birthdays are celebrated nowadays but on a smaller scale.”
Shabbir Ahluwalia is making sure that his birthday is strictly celebrated with his family. “All I wish is that I have a quiet and peaceful day today. If I could gift myself something it would be lots of happiness. My ideal birthday vacation will be with my wife, mother, father and other family members to the Maldives. I would take a dip in the sea waters and then come back.”
When we asked about his childhood birthdays he laughed, “They would be far wilder as my mom would organise these huge parties.”
Sana Amin Sheikh who is playing the vibrant Lajjo in Life OK’s Gustakh Dil also celebrates his birthday today. When her loved ones came over to celebrate Eid yesterday they also ushered in her birthday. They had hidden a cake in the refrigerator which they put on the table at midnight. She has gifted herself a brand new car on this day. While we were talking to her, she received a bouquet of flowers as a gift. Her birthday wish is that Gustakh Dil becomes a roaring success.
She is working today instead of celebrating. Being a busy bee she loves it that way. “I am not a party person anyway.” Pondering on her childhood birthdays she says, “Unfortunately 10 August generally fell on the first day of the week which is why I always suffered from Monday morning blues. However as I got to wear a party dress instead of school uniform and distributed sweets in class, I would ultimately get into a chirpy mood.”
We wish all the actors a rollicking birthday!!!
