Hello everyone, this is Shilpa Shinde whom you know as Koyal from SAB TV’s ongoing show Chidiya Ghar. To start with…here’s a bit about myself. Born and brought up in Mumbai, I stay here with my parents, two sisters and a brother. I did my schooling and later finished college with Psychology as my special subject from this city. Since, my dad is in politics, he has a lot of influence. I am also of the belief that in today’s world, people should be in politics or become an actor to find a benchmark for them. Soon after I finished my graduation, I thought of getting into television. My parents too were cool about it but on the condition that if I was not able to do something great on television in a year, I would have to forgo my dream. Then, I was learning Bharat Natyam dance from Gopi Kishanji and nearby, there was studio where most of the video albums used to be shot. I made a portfolio for which my make-up was done by Govinda’s make-up artist. Through him, I got an opportunity to work in a video album and later also did a few Tamil and Telugu films. But somewhere, I was not enjoying it. Since my brother was working with Ashtavinayak Cine Vision and they were coming up with a show called Amrapali for DD, he recommended my name for the role. And that’s how I bagged my first television show. Later I did Star Plus’ Bhabhi in which I played a vamp’s role. Since after Bhabhi I wanted to do positive roles, I did a couple of shows like Betiyaan Apni Yaa Paraaya Dhan on Star One, Maayka on Zee TV, Sanjivani on Star One, Waaris on Zee TV and Hatim on Star Plus. After doing a couple of positive roles, I realized I can’t cry 24*7. And for an actor, you can’t do the same kind of a role over and over again; there has to be some kind of versatility. Hence, with this show, I tried my hands in comedy with Chidiya Ghar. I was always of the belief that it is very easy to make people cry but very difficult to make them laugh. On the sets, I really enjoy working with my cast and crew. In real life also, we all are like our characters. On the personal front, I am single and am a very shy kind of a person. Earlier, I used to dance and paint but now I don’t get time. Right now, I am into jewellery designing. In fact, I design my own costumes and jewellery that I wear in the show. So this is my journey till now in a nutshell. I hope you enjoy watching us and it is my pleasure to bring a smile on every faces with our show Chidiya Ghar.
