I giggle while enacting romantic scenes: Ayaz Ahmed

Ayaz Ahmed
You must have seen the charming Ayaz Ahmed on screen in his usual sweet boy avatar. However, with Nautanki Telefilms’ Do Dil Ek… Jaan on Life OK, he is all set to break his earlier image. He will be seen as the very rugged and passionate lover, Raghu, in this Life OK’s upcoming love story. Says he, “Earlier I have worked on a couple of shows but have always been in my comfort zone while shooting for them. But, this time, down the line, I will be playing somebody I just don’t resemble in real life. Ayaz and Raghu are two different people. Hence, when I am shooting for my scenes, I am not Ayaaz anymore.” Explaining his character in detail, he avers, “He is a typical Mumbaikar, a sort of Robinhood kind of a person who bashes up people but is also concerned about others. He also loves his mother a lot and can kill anybody for her. Therefore, with Antara’s (Nikita Sharma) entry, he will have two women in his life which will bring in a lot of twists and turns in the story.” Hope to see you in some action packed scenes. “Yes, my character is action oriented. In fact, when I was narrated the role, I was so happy to learn about it. Mujhe aath saalo ki bhadas nikalni thi. I have practiced taekwondo and karate for a couple of years and also been a part of championship matches, but I never got to show that side of me on-screen. Hence, when I got that opportunity here, I knew I wanted my character to be more like that of Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee,” Ayaz adds. Well, luckily for him, the actor also got to perform stunts on a harness, as he tells us, “I did perform stunts with the harness. I haven’t used any duplicates. In fact, in my entry scene, I will be seen jumping off from a height of 40 feet right in front of Antara’s taxi.” In the show, the actor also gets to do yet another thing that he has never done before on screen. And that is ‘romancing’. “I have never played a romantic guy on screen. In fact, I too am not romantic in real life. Therefore, shooting for romantic scenes makes me giggle, though, I don’t do it right in front of the camera.” What was your reaction when you first learnt about Nikita Sharma being the girl opposite you? “You see, one and half months ago I was finalised to play the lead. And when we began shooting, all of us were waiting for the right girl. A lot of girls came for auditions but, we weren’t getting the Kashmiri feel in them. And when Nikita came in, she did fit the role; she has a distinct face that separates her from the crowd. Moreover, I think that the promos are saying it all. She is a very hard working girl and grasps things well.” So, do the two of you hang out together? “She is from Delhi while I am from Kolkata. Since we stay alone, we don’t get to eat at home. So, whenever we have some time together, we make it a point to go out for dinner.” Ayaz, we wish you luck!!!
