I shed a tear when my house help revealed her story of Bonded Labour: Shruti Bisht

MUMBAI: Sony Entertainment Television’s Mere Sai has always been one of the anchors of the channel because of its engaging story line and valuable teachings of Sai Baba that are shown in every track. The lead star Tushar Dalvi who portrays Sai Baba has garnered a dedicated following of his own,  thanks to his effortless acting and brilliant screen presence.

The most recent entrant to the show, Shruti Bisht who is a part of a very special and prevalent track based on Bonded Labor. It will bring to light the woes of bonded labour and the struggle of a poverty stricken family.
On set, between shoots, Tushar and Shruti bond over sharing magnificent Sai stories and wonders of Baba. Interestingly, Shruti is reminded of a similar real life incident relating to the track she’s been shooting. Shruti’s house-help and her entire family who come from a remote village were once captured in shackles of bonded labor. Their house was at a stake because of  non-payment of dues to the zamindaar. Thereby, leading them to the vicious circle of bonded labor. However, fortunately, the family successfully broke free from this evil and eventually paid their dues and moved to the city.

The actor, sharing an emotional connect for the track said, ‘It’s heart-breaking to hear these stories but it won’t be wrong to say that times are changing and bonded labor is not as  prevalent today as it was years ago. I shed a tear when she told me about her story of bandhua majdoori. Being the religious person that I am, I have always been a Sai Bhakt. However, being a part of this show has made me truly realise the magnificence of Baba in all its glory. Each time, I am left amazed and wanting for more. And my wonderful co-star and outstanding actor Tushar Dalvi indulges with me everyday  to narrate Sai Baba’s wondrous tales.“

The track will beautifully showcase the ways in which Sai gives strength and will to the people who show faith in him and showers his love and blessings.

Watch Mere Sai Monday to Friday @ 7:00 PM on Sony Entertainment Television.
