He was also the winner of The Voice India in 2015.

Pawandeep Ranjan, winner of the show Indian Idol 12, has opened up about the severe injuries he sustained in a dreadful road accident back in May.

His car crashed into a parked truck around 3 am near Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad, while he was travelling to Delhi to catch a flight to Ahmedabad.

In a recent podcast of Salim-Sulaiman, Pawandeep shared about the accident, how horrified the accident was he said.

Pawandeep stated that he initially received no help.

It was the police who eventually arrived and extracted him from the car, which was, by then, on fire.

On the Salim-Sulaiman podcast, Pawandeep quoted, “Initially, no one was helping us, then the police came. The car had caught fire, and I was inside it at the time. One of them pulled me out. I don’t know how long I was inside, but when I woke up, I was out of the car. Then I was taken to the hospital. Both my legs and a hand were broken. I called up home and asked my family to come. I just thought about getting it treated as soon as possible. It has all gotten better now”.

The accident's impact was extremely severe, leaving Pawandeep trapped inside the vehicle for a time.

He sustained major injuries, including fractures to both legs, a serious injury to his right arm, and a head injury that necessitated multiple surgical procedures.

The singer went on to detail his arduous recovery journey. Initially, following the severe impact, Rajan was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a Delhi NCR medical centre for advanced treatment, where he remained hospitalised for several weeks.

"For the first month, I couldn’t even move from side to side," he shared. "After the accident, I was bedridden, and even when I flew to Mumbai with my injured leg, I had to stay immobile for another month."

Rajan is now marking small but significant milestones in his rehabilitation. "Now I’m able to walk a little, which makes me happy," he noted.

“I’ve begun walking gradually, and I hope my mobility improves further in the coming month."

He added that his right arm is also improving: "Slowly, I’ve started walking and even playing the guitar again.

My hand has regained some strength, but it still needs more healing."

The incident has profoundly altered Rajan's perspective on life.
