Kamalika Guha Thakurta is happy playing Gayatri chachi in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Revati (NRI mommy) in Ba,Bahu aur Baby but the talented lady has taken to hindi theatre for creative satisfaction. Kamalika is doing a play titled Tea, Coffee or Me which also stars Ritu Chaudhary (her co-star in Kyunki...), Swapnil Joshi, Bhairavi Goswami and Sunil Barve. "There are these five characters in the play and I play Rama in it. She is this mad woman who is nattily dressed and keeps singing and dancing on stage. The five of us are held up in a house at the backdrop of the 26 July deluge in Mumbai wherein no one move out for a few hours and the various comic situations in the house because of that. And the writer of the play is the real hero I'd say. It's like a comedy of errors," says the elegant Kamalika for whom the biggest high in 2005 has been her three year old daughter's admission to Jamnabai school in suburban Mumbai. Though she has done Bengali theatre in Kolkata but this is her first attempt at Hindi theatre. "Being a bengali I had to work doubly hard for it as its not my language besides in theatre there are no retakes. It has been a gratifying experience doing the show so far besides we have got a good response from the audiences also," points out Kamalika. For Kamalika it is the sheer love for the art that she is involved in the theatre besides it gives her a kick to get an instant reaction from the live audience. Tea, Coffee or Me has been written by Mihir Buta and directed by Sunil Shah. The lady spends twenty days shooting for her serials while the weekends are booked for the play.
