Kanwar Dhillon, the young lad is known for his challenging and versatile roles in television!! Born to actor Deep Dhillon, Kanwar has the looks to die for, and also the caliber to handle any diverse role well.
Kanwar who came to the limelight with the youth show, The Buddy Project has had a fruitful journey and completes four good years as an actor today (14 August).
And the best part according to him is that he has grown with every role that he has played.
Here is Kanwar going down the memory lane, talking about the various roles he has portrayed so far...
Says Kanwar, “I started my work as an actor at a very young age. And I have grown with every character. After Buddy Project, the negative role in Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha did wonders for me. I will always be thankful to Sunshine Productions for offering me this role. Then came Do Dil Ek Jaan, Hum Hai Naa and Piya Rangrezz where I got to play various kinds of characters.”
Kanwar has always liked to play with his looks in the shows he has done. “I have always felt the need to look different in every role. I have believed that look adds to the versatility of the character. I have seen to it that I took ample time before I got back with my new show. I prefer my roles to be productive and creative.”
All has been hunky dory for the actor, no doubt. But he has faced a personal low when he was doing Hum Hai Naa. He suffered a bad back injury at the gym which indeed gave him sleepless nights. “The result of the injury was that I started to put on weight. That was a very low phase for me mentally, wherein I got conscious about my look. I had a painful 9-10 months journey wherein I never complained. I used to pop up my medicines and shoot. All the antibiotics acted on me, and I put on immense weight. After Hum Hai Naa, I had a transition phase wherein I had to take care of my body and start from scratch.”
His next show Piya Rangrezz saw a new and rejuvenated Kanwar. “I lost nearly 14 kgs and the break after Hum Hai Naa was indeed a conscious effort to get back in health and shape. I did not want to take any risk with my back and wanted to heal it fully.Yes, I did lose a lot of good offers, but I took it in the stride as health was my priority then.”
So what are the tips that you have got from your actor father? “Well, he has been in the industry for 30 – 35 years. He told me to be focused on my job, and not listen to people who make me feel that I am a star. At the same time, he asked me to be away from those who wanted to pull me down. From the start I have learnt to be on my own. And when I got my first role on TV, I told my family about it only after I signed for it. My father has made a place for himself with his capabilities. He is a man of principles and has never asked for work. So the question of him helping me out did not arise. And that is the golden rule we have in our house that we will never take help to get work.”
On his future plans, Kanwar tells us, “I will want to be offered a good reality show like Fear Factor or Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. This will break the monotony of a daily soap for me. I will love to do a soap and a reality at the same time. Also, I will want to try it out as an anchor. I will want to accept new challenges and see how I go about it.”
Kanwar, hope you gain all the success in the coming years...
