Kapil Dev weeps on Sa Re Ga...

Be it on the cricket field or on camera, Kapil Dev has never been one to hide his emotions. Back in 2000, he broke down on Hard Talk unable to face host Karan Thapar's fiery questions. Seven years later, tears flowed again but this time on the special Independence Day episode of Zee's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007, where both Indian and Pakistani contestants paid tribute to their motherland.

The Haryana Hurricane couldn't hide his emotions when Bikaner's Raja Hasan sang Vande Mataram. "As we all know, Kapil is a very emotional and patriotic person. He was clearly moved by Raja's performance and thus couldn't control his emotions" said host Aditya Narayan. Upon his arrival, Kapil stated that he was honoured to be here today and since both Indians and Pakistanis were competing on the show it was aptly titled as the world cup of singing. Later, an emotional Kapil enlightened everyone on India and Pakistan's relations. Be it culture, people or habits, the only thing that separates us is the border. Well, Kapil wasn't the only one to shed a tear. To the astonishment of all, cocky judge Vishal was so touched by Anik Dhar's performance, who sang Sandese aatein hai that the show had to be halted for few minutes. "I was taken aback by Vishaji's emotional response. Unhone kaha ki tumne maa ki yaad dila di (Vishal said that you've reminded me of my mother's love) "stated Anik. When quizzed over it, Vishal replied, "I did get emotional because he (Anik) sang so beautifully. But it was for only few seconds. I'm sure the media is going to project this as headline news. But I'd like to confess that I'm a deeply patriotic person."
