MUMBAI: Best known for her roles in hit series like Qubool Hai and Naagin 3, Surbhi has firmly established herself as a household name in Indian television. Most recently, she wowed audiences with her portrayal of Tara in Gunaah Season 2, a digital thriller that premiered earlier this year to much acclaim.
However, in a recent interview, the actress candidly shared how she almost didn’t take on the role that became a defining point in her career Naagin.

“I initially turned it down,” Surbhi admitted. “I didn’t see myself in that space. It didn’t feel like my kind of role, and I wasn’t confident I could pull it off. I kept thinking, ‘How am I going to do this?’”
But it was her husband, Sumit, who gave her the gentle push she needed. “He told me, ‘If you’re thinking of doing something on television, why not choose the number one show?’ And honestly, that made all the difference.”
Reflecting on her first meeting with producer Ekta Kapoor, Surbhi recalled being completely captivated. “Oh my God the way she narrates a story is simply magical. She has this incredible power to make you believe in the role. After speaking with her, I knew I had to say yes. And I’m so glad I did.”
The rest, as they say, is history. Surbhi’s portrayal in Naagin 3 went on to become one of the most loved performances in the franchise, with the show consistently topping TRP charts and earning her a dedicated fanbase.
Her journey serves as a powerful reminder that sometimes, the roles we fear the most are the ones that shape us the most—and with the right support and belief, magic can truly happen.
