Twelfth Indian Telly Awards - Best Anchor
It’s Awards time! Yes, the Twelfth Indian Telly Awards is back and as a part of its campaign, we are taking this opportunity to talk about some of the hot and dashing anchors of the TV industry in recent times. Well, these handsome hunks who have been nominated for the awards in the Best Anchor category include actors from TV as well as Bollywood. But, here they will be seen competing against each other. So, who will emerge victorious is the big question? But, before we decide on who must win, let’s have a look at why these actors deserve to be in our nominated list. Going alphabetically, the first on our list is Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan. The ‘perfectionist’ puts in his heart and soul in everything he takes up and that’s exactly what showed in his home production Satyamev Jayate that aired on Star Plus. Aamir raised a lot of social issues on his reality show that touched millions of hearts and raised a lot of eyebrows. Most importantly, this cute looking star managed to have that connection with his audiences. He knew the issues he was dealing with and he had the urge to reform. There were times when he even cried on the show and one could gaze through him and say that he wasn’t faking it, on the contrary, he was emotionally connected to every story he narrated on-screen. Next on our list is the Indian Superstar who made a comeback in the limelight with a television reality show created by Siddharth Basu of BIG Synergy. It’s none other than the ‘Don’ of Indian film industry Amitabh Bachchan. This angry young man is the face of Kaun Banega Crorepati and we think that nobody can host this show better than what he could. His little interactions with the contestants on his reality show and his command over the language (both Hindi and English) takes this show to another level. Therefore, there was no way we could have not nominated him after all he is the hottest old man on-screen. Amitji, if you’re reading this, please don’t snap back at us with Buddha Hoga Tera Baap line (wink). We just spoke about too many names of Bollywood. Now, let’s move on to television now. And, when you think about television actors into the anchoring business, the first name that comes to your mind is that of Anoop Soni. Anup is currently anchoring Sony Entertainment Televisions’ Crime Patrol (Optimystix Productions) and is also seen as Bhairon in Colors’ Balika Vadhu. Anup is more of a sutradhaar (narrator) on the show who connects the story at different junctions and also gives one a message at the end of the story. There is definitely no space for the actor to ad a pun or two as it’s a serious show. But, his talent lies in talking the audiences into the story and getting them back in the real world. And here, we think that Anup is doing an extremely good job. If anyone can make anchoring look like an extremely cool job it has to be Manish Paul. Yes, the man can talk, dance and sing while anchoring his shows. In fact, his anchoring skills were most praised on the sets of Colors’ Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 5 (BBC Productions) as he made everybody laugh their lungs out with comedian and contestant Bharti Singh. Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! If someone came across as a surprise package in the anchoring field, it was Karan Kundra on Channel V’s Gumrah Season 1 (Lost Boy Productions). The actor was known as a chocolate boy of the television industry all this while, but his anchoring skills broke all notions about him. This man cannot just act but also anchor and connect to the youth of our nation. Hence, he is one of the nominees of the Twelfth The Indian Telly Awards. Furthermore, if it’s Alag Che, then it’s Salman Khan. This smoking hot Bollywood actor managed to win a million hearts with his anchoring skills on Colors’ Bigg Boss Season 6 (Endemol India). In the show, he came across as himself. He did not fear the cameras when it came to giving it back to some of the notorious contestants on the show or expressing his affection towards others. Plus, he made this season extremely entertaining with his dance performances and interactions with the contestants. Hence, he is one of the most talented anchors on the small screen.
