One of the best moments of my life

A page from the personal diary of Shagufta Ali I had been doing films down south as well as Mumbai when I got my first television offer from the Ramsay brothers. They had just made their television foray and were doing their first show called the Zee Horror Show. It was the first show for Zee as well but I wasn’t very keen on doing television then. But Shyamji convinced me and told me that since I had worked with them in their films working with them on TV wouldn’t be that difficult. But I still did not know if I wanted to do TV. I went back home and discussed it with my father who was alive then. He too said that I should do it. I then went back to Shyamji and told him that I would do the show. I did not know that TV would grow this much then and that you would one day get to see everything on TV. So, I did four episodes of the show with Pankaj Dheer and Archana Puransingh as my co-stars. After I was done with it I was offered Parampara. I took up that show too and that very year I was nominated for the best actress awards and I won it. I had never dreamt even in my wildest dream that I would win the best actress award and that too being a new comer in the TV industry. When my name was called I just couldn’t believe it. I was in a state of shock. That was one of the best moments of my life. Over the years I have seen the TV industry grow into the big giant it now is. The journey has been fantastic just a loss of few good producers, directors and co-stars who were a part of my journey. The technology no doubt is very advanced now and this industry has given me a lot of name, fame and money. So, though there are a few complaints at times I overlook them. Overall I am thankful to Allah for whatever he has given me.
