Post Bigg Boss, I have been tagged with adjectives like sophisticated, gentleman, and wise: Gaurav Chopraa

MUMBAI: Dapper and dynamic personality Gaurav Chopraa is returning to the TV space with Zee TV’s fascinating dark love story, Aghori. The actor will be seen depicting two different roles: that of an Aghori and that of an ordinary person named Ahvik.

At the launch of the show, TellyChakkar got in touch with Gaurav, who began by sharing some light on his character and reason he said yes for the show.

He shared, 'I was being offered the same kind of roles. If I continue doing the same, how will I grow and explore as an actor? And hence, I started saying no to the projects that required me to play roles similar to those I have done in the past. Offers for digital shows came like a fresh air, and I grabbed them. My decision on shows is almost a child-like reaction to the roles. There is no strategy or planning. With the same conviction I said yes for Aghori, as it is something that I have never attempted in my career.'

Gaurav does true justice to his look of an Aghori. It takes a long time for the actor to get into the character each day. He shared, 'It is tedious and takes a lot of time, but in the end, it’s worth it. Anything that is different requires time and patience. The toughest part is that I have to look fit and hit the gym every day.'

Talking about the difficulties he faces while enacting an Aghori, he shared, 'Aghoris stay away from all kinds of emotions and relationships and don’t express. But my job is to be expressive. Before approaching each scene, I have questions in my mind like if he gets angry, then does it shows on his face? Does he smile? I have taken no reference and am playing it with true conviction. I am trying to give my best within the circumstances. Hopefully, my honesty and efforts will shine through.'

When asked aboout the one quality of an Aghori he would like to imbibe in himself, he replied, 'The sense of self-control'.

On the personal front, Gaurav is happily married to his once-girlfriend Hitisha Cheranda. On why the wedding was a hush-hush affair, he shared, 'I have always kept my personal life separate from my professional life. My mom was not keeping well, and she wanted me to get married. She was happy seeing me settling down.'

In conclusion, when asked if he watches TV and keeps tabs on current trends, he replied, 'I haven’t watched TV for almost a decade now. You won’t believe it, but I haven’t watched a single episode of Bigg Boss apart from some glimpses. But I am happy that Bigg Boss came my way. There are adjectives like sophisticated, gentleman, wise, well-read, and well brought up attached to my name after doing Bigg Boss.'

Here’s wishing Gaurav good luck!
