MUMBAI: Renowned Punjabi singer Diljaan is no more! In an unfortunate incident, the singer died due to a car accident in the wee hours of Tuesday. It is unclear what caused the accident.
As per reports doing rounds, the accident occurred when the late singer was on his way to Kartarpur, in his Mahindra KUV 100, when he met with the accident at the Amritsar-Jalandhar highway, near Jandiala Guru town, 20 Km from Amritsar, and is alleged to have died on the spot. Diljaan was rushed to a private hospital by passers-by, and his body was sent for postmortem.
Fans and followers of the singer have been mourning the loss, and have been tweeting wishing his soul rests in peace. Among many who tweeted was Punjab's Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, who took to his social media to share the news. His tweet read, "Shocked at the tragic death of young and promising Punjabi singer Diljaan in a road accident earlier today. It is extremely sad to lose young lives like these on road. My condolences to the family, friends and fans. RIP!"
According to a Hindustan Times report, the accident occurred around 2.30 am on Tuesday morning when Diljaan's car collided with a stationary vehicle. While police sources say it collided with a truck, onlookers claim that it also hit the divider.
Diljaan shot to fame with the 2012 Indian-Pakistani singing reality show Sur Kshetra, and was the first runner-up. He was set to release his new track, Tere Wargey 2, and had been updating his fans about the same via his social media handle.
The late singer is survived by his wife and daughter, who reside in Canada. They will be traveling to India for the last rites.
