Raj Singh Arora joins Aam Aadmi Party

The Aam Admi Party (AAP) wave has caught the fancy of the masses via its stupendous political debut in the Delhi Assembly Elections emerging as the second largest party in the capital city. The momentous development has even impacted the thinking of many actors, one being handsome, spirited and intellectual Raj Singh Arora (Remix, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki fame). Raj has gone on to join Aam Aadmi Party by paying mere Rs 10. Talking about his decision to enter the political field he shared with Tellychakkar.com, “I admit I have not been a good citizen, it is only last year that I got my voter’s ID card made. One of the main things what made me join this third alternative in Indian politics is that being a law student, I know how the electoral process works. The biggest positive in AAP is that it has managed to win support in Delhi across the rich, middle class and poor divide. I hope they emulate the same success pan India as well.” However, being a realist Raj accepts that AAP is still a new entity. “For the moment I would prefer Mr Narendra Modi to lead the country, as the only time I saw development was when Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee led the NDA government at the centre. I base my trust on two factors, first that Modi is a bachelor, so he does not need to make money for kids and neither does he need to fall back on dynastic politics as the Congress does.” Smart words, Raj!!! He continued, “The AAP should use this period to spread its base and gain experience. It can also keep a check on the ruling party. I don’t think the Arvind Kejriwal led formation is yet ready to deal with broader national and international issues of the day which a more seasoned politician like Mr Modi is apt at dealing with. The BJP also needs to repair the damage done by the Congress. By the time the 2019 Lok Sabha elections comes around, I hope the AAP become a massive phenomenon and takes power in Delhi and across India.” And what about the much talked about Jan Lokpal Bill? “As far as the Bill is concerned, it will become reality only when the AAP comes to power. For both the national parties will surely oppose it. The only thing I disagree with the Jan Lokpal (creating a comprehensive Ombudsman) is the proposal to keep the Prime Minister’s office under its ambit. I don’t think it is practical for then the PM’s actions will be always be suspected and he/she would not be able to operate independently and effectively in times of crisis. Luckily all PMs in India including Dr. Manmohan Singh have been very honest,” added Raj. He is also a strong advocate in favour of the Bill. “The bill will bring to task most corrupt politicians; sadly not one has been prosecuted till date. Similarly no corporate house has ever been booked for graft. Beside the Jan Lokpal bill, the AAP should also ensure getting back stashed money aboard as suggested by Anna Hazare.” Coming to his personal contribution he said, “I will ensure that I take out time to contribute to civic issues. I want clean streets, no garbage and lots of art festivals as western cities have. Many professional youngsters (MBAs, engineers, and town planners) are joining the electoral fray and it is a good sign. We are all doing for the national good and not just wanting to become netas.” When asked if he would recommend joining politics to his fellow industry mates, he stated, “Yes, I have put my views on my Facebook wall as well. I hope they do, if not it will be sad that they don’t want to be part of fire of change.” In closing, Raj appealed to all to join the AAP party, “Anybody can join by registering on the website by using their debit cards and paying Rs 10.” However he hopes that the Mumbai chapter of AAP becomes more visible as this city can become the next battle ground for the anti-corruption movement. Raj, we are impressed by your thoughts and progressive ideas. Way to go!!!
