On Republic Day, TV stars talk about India's achievements in the last six decades

India is all set to celebrate its 64 years of becoming a republic, unfortunately the events of the past months have been quite disappointing (Corruption and Delhi rape case etc). But as they say it all depends on how you look at things. Hence this time rather than looking at the glass half empty, we at Tellychakkar.com have decided to look at it as half full. So accordingly, we spoke to a number of TV actors about the positives our great nation has achieved in the past six decades.
Rohit Roy shared, “We have made much advancement in the field of health, and life expectancy has also gone up. The economy has grown several folds and India is now a country to be reckoned in the world stage. However being from the entertainment field I would like to focus more on my forte. The last 15/20 years have seen major positive changes in the industry, not only in technological advances but also in content. Gone is the divide between commercial and art house cinema. Today we only have good or bad films. Directors are also attempting to explore all types of subjects. However since Tellychakkar is primarily a TV website, Iwould request channels and serial producers to please come out of the current mode of TV content and start making realistic substance.” Divyanka Tripathi averred, “The last 60 years have seen major positive changes for women. The glass ceiling has been finally broken. Gone are the days when women were restricted to only teaching and nursing. Today they head many important companies and corporations. Years back when any woman would enter the acting field, she would be looked at with bad light. However when I entered the same line I was given full respect. The other big change I see is the power of the youth. They don’t want to depend on crutches of caste reservation to march ahead. Rather they have full confidence in their own ability to create a niche for themselves purely on merit. Young India is also against corruption which might be a game changer for the future.” The one big thing what Divyanka would want to change would be the attitude of men towards women. “The day should soon come when even if a woman walks naked no man should force himself on her.” Adaa Khan (Amrit Manthan) shared, “The country is marching ahead in infrastructure (Bandra Worli sea link, upcoming metro and mono rail projects in Mumbai), nuclear (power generation and medicine ), space technology (moon mission) and sports (we are finally winning medals in others Olympic sports and not just cricket.” Furthermore, the single big change Adaa would like to see is judiciary giving up it lethargy attitude and start providing effective and time bound justice to all victims irrespective of their name and position. Manav Gohil (Buddy Project) went on to state, “Being a Gujarati I am very proud of the achievement of my home state.” Chief Minister Narendra Modi is the beacon of development. I love to drive down there for the roads are superb. The coastal state has done wonders for tourist attraction. The state also has a remarkable single window clearance for investment, thereby attracting international companies by hordes.” In comparison he feels that “his adopted state of Maharashtra is lagging behind in infrastructure.” “I hope that the City Of Dreams (Mumbai) get long due urban planning. We need clusters to give way proper housing.” Let’s check out Ankit Gera’s views. “It is a blessing being the citizen of a country which is one of the most ancient cultures in the world. India's achievements during the last decades include a robust democracy, strong roots of secularism, and revival of many aspects of traditional wisdom. We are also growing technology and communication wise in a big way from mobiles laptops to Ipads.” In closing, HitenTejwani (Pavitra Rishta) said,“ he was appreciative of the present central government’s attempts to finally pull the plug on the rising subsidy bill ( LPG cylinder cap and petrol diesel price hike). “They finally bit the bullet and went against public sentiment, but this was need otherwise the ballooning fiscal deficit would have gone completely haywire.” He also praised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his brave decision to roll out FDI in retail. “This will not only provide employment to millions, give a fillip to the economy, but also provide valuable good and services to the discerning Indian consumer. Why should we need to go abroad for consumer goods? The state just needs to make sure that enough social security nets are in place to protect farmers and workers from this new market forces which are here to stay.” Happy Republic Day to everyone!!!
