Fans of SAB TV’s Lapataganj (Garima Productions) would like to go on debating which of the two seasons they like more. We posed this question to Rohitashv Gaud who plays Mukundilal Sughandilal Gupta and Sucheta Khanna who plays Indumati Mukundilal Gupta. Which of the two seasons they think is better? The duo quite candidly replied that they prefer the first season.
Rohitashv said, “I prefer Season 1 as we were working on the stories of Sharad Joshi. The content was very mature. Season 2 is appealing the masses though. Season 1 was for intellectual people and Season 2 is more for children.” Sucheta agreed, “In the first season we had new actions and stories.”
Regarding their most memorable moment on the show, Sucheta said, “Once the whole set broke down as there were some technical issues with the BMC. That is when we all were shattered. The togetherness our producer and director Ashwini Dhir showed, at that point of time was outstanding. He stood like a pillar rock steady. We started shooting again the same night. We didn’t have a set but were shooting nevertheless. That was one of the most emotional moments of my career and life.”
Rohitashv added, “We continued to shoot amidst all odds. I could hardly believe that we were actually doing so. The rating of the episodes was high too.”
Needless to say both the actors are enjoying to execute their respective roles. Sucheta said, “There is an earth and sky difference between what I was when I started this serial to what I am now. I have definitely grown as Indumati. I have emoted in all the possible ways that my character can express emotion in. Despite that, every day is a new day for me. Likewise each scene is a new one for me.”
Rohitashv informed us, “When we get a new role, initially we have to make a conscious effort to enact it. In due course of time as we imbibe more of the character within us, we can perform more naturally.”
On a parting note we asked them if they would like to dwell in a village like Lapataganj. Sucheta averred, “I would love to live in a place like Lapataganj as there is a lot of warmth and togetherness there. All of that is really missing in today’s world especially in the urban areas.”
Rohitashv seconded her, “I would love to stay in a sweet and simple village like that. If Lapataganj imbibes too much of modernization, gizmos and gadgets; the place will lose its soul.”
