Ronit Roy's unfortunate accident

Ronit Roy
The life of a TV actor is tough. And especially that of a busy actor like Ronit Roy who is shooting night and day to be able to get his show Adaalat on air, apart from being available to Bollywood directors and producers for their films. Often, busy actors such as Ronit have to move from set to set and location to location, depending on the demands of the production crew. Because often the channel creatives have not cleared the script and have asked to have it redone. This sends filming schedules haywire. And the actors' sleep patterns. Actors are under tremendous pressure to excel and especially if their shows are successful and top TRP raters such as Ronit's Adaalat. Tellychakkar.com remembers Ronit Roy speaking to us during the first few episodes of Adaalat. "I am not happy with the ratings of Adaalat. I am going to put that extra bit to make it successful. The success of the show is on my shoulders. I am going to push myself," he had said. Ronit has been stretching himself not just for this show, but for several others such as Bandini where as an actor he sat on the director's chair too when he felt he had some inputs to give. For whichever shows Ronit has worked with Indiantelevision.com or Tellychakkar.com he has given more than his best, being a thorough professional. At The Indian Telly Awards decade gala last year, which he hosted alone with Meghna Mallik, he was the first to arrive and was pushing the creatives to go on stage. When there was a costume problem, he offered to use his own. Now the news is that Ronit met with an accident while driving his Mercedes Benz somewhere close to Mumbai's Link Road in the Lokhandwala area in Andheri West at around 5:50 am earlier this week. Apparently, his car crashed into a Wagon R which was being driven by the Darera family. Ronit was returning from an all night shoot and the Darera family was headed towards Matheran. The Wagon R, according to police reports, was coming out from the Sab TV lane onto Link Road which is the main arterial road of that area. Link Road during the day has slow moving traffic, but at nights, car drivers have the freedom to zip at higher speeds. Roy was arrested but released on bail later and will have to make appearances in court, just like he does on his show, Adaalat, in which he plays a lawyer, called KD. Reports are that all passengers are safe, apart from Kanta Vadera, the mother of the family who was admitted to the nearby Kokillaben Ambani hospital. The lady is reportedly serious and has required blood transfusions. But video grabs of Ronit's car show that his silver Mercedes' front fender is totally smashed and has suffered some serious damage. Ronit fans have been busy on his Facebook page. While some have asked him to drive safely, others have talked glowingly of his goodness. "God and all us, fans are there with you... take care of yourself.. remember you are a good and wonderful human being... This too shall pass... :) You'll sail through this time like you have in the past... We love you... :)" is what Moumita Pal has posted. "Sir almighty God z always wth d Good persons..nd u r d most kind nd humble,we all r wth u always in every moment of life..coz u r d only one to whom we love a lot..prayers,wishes nd good will fr u sir..GOD BLESS U." is Aashu Kaushik's post. "Don't worry Sir everything will be ok .we all are with u our prays always with u." Aayesha Riaz. "An 'accident' is just that.....KD has his own honest appropriate defense" - Ayesha H Jashanmal. For Ronit, it is not a new challenge. He has constantly reinvented himself. From being not so successful in films he moved to TV where he is arguably the numero uno in the industry today. Then he moved back to films and won almost every single major film award for his performance in the surprisingly successful Udaan. This apart he continues to run his security agency providing protection to celebrities. Fans, and all of us at Tellychakkar.com, are hoping that Mrs Kanta Darera recovers totally, and that it is proved that it was an "accident." And accidents can happen to any of us.
