Sushant Singh is a name that needs no introduction. He has featured in many movies and impressed everyone in his negative avatar in Star Plus’ Gulaal. After a brief hiatus from the tube, he is now back as a co host in Life OK’s Savdhan India. He is sharing the mike with actor Gaurav Chopraa (of Uttaran fame). However, in a chat with Tellychakkar.com, he shared his reluctance on opting for daily soaps.
“I was offered some very good fiction shows post Gulaal but I did not give my nod as I am scared of daily soaps. They take 14 to 15 hours plus 30 days a month which leaves you with no time for family or even for yourself. It is also stressful, so I prefer doing non-fictions shows as it gives me time to act in films as well,” said Sushant.
On taking up Savdhan India, he stated, “First of all, I wasn’t going to be doing all the episodes as Gaurav Chopraa too is anchoring this show. Hence, that way I was getting enough time for movies. Lastly, I like doing such shows because they help you create awareness about the crime happening all around us.”
At the 70m front, Sushant has three films in his kitty. “I am currently shooting for Ram Gopal Verma’s Ab Tak Chhappan sequel. Apart from it, I have Sagar Ballary’s next (director of Bheja Fry) and also a flick with KC Bokadia. When I signed Gulaal I had no idea that it would consume so much of my time. I couldn’t take movies for almost a year. However, at that time a lot of people even questioned me why I wasn’t doing movies and I learnt a lesson from it. Now I’d never do something that restricts me from doing films.”
Currently, there are other crime based shows also on other channels, like Crime Patrol and Gumraah. So is there any sense of competition?
“I like doing my work and leave the rest to the channel and the producers. However, Anoop (Soni) is a dear friend and he is anchoring that show (Crime Patrol) brilliantly. I have seen some of his work and it is good.”
Lastly, we asked about a recent goof up in a national daily wherein they carried Sushant Singh Rajput’s photograph on a story written on him. “I really do not know how to react to this as I have been facing this issue for quite some time. However, I feel the reporter should have done the homework well before uploading somebody else’s picture.”
Well, Sushant…we understand. We wish you a great luck with your new show and upcoming movies!!!
