MUMBAI: On the occasion of World Environment Day, producer Mou Das has raised a valid question: is one day enough to create awareness for the protection of our environment. And we all agree with her, don't we?
She feels it is good that we have a day in the calendar to encourage awareness for the protection of our environment but when you're talking about that environment where one resides, even 365 days aren't enough for awareness.

She also said, "Why not try to contribute each and everyday for our environment, why only on World Environment Day. We are asked to avoid using plastic bags but that hasn't stopped yet, polluting the air, water and land has become the most common things, which hasn't stopped till date."
Mou said humans are at fault, not just in the case of the brutal killing of the pregnant elephant, and added, "If we humans are important for this environment so are the animals, plants, our surroundings, which we are hampering day-by-day. If one keeps on torturing the environment then definitely in no time we all humans will have nothing to survive on."
What according to her should be done - "We should first take initiatives ourselves and then think of spreading the awareness, because only planting trees cannot save the environment and that isn't the only solution. The environment can be saved if we do our part perfectly like using reusable bags, less consumption of electricity by turning off appliances not in use, by not littering, saving water, changing the driving habits and many more."
World Environment Day is observed every year on June 5. Mou has definitely raised a very valid question on the occasion and her solutions might actually help us for a cleaner and greener environment.
