MUMBAI: Tanisha Mehta has been gaining immense love for her portrayal as Vrinda in Star Plus' popular show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. TellyChakkar.com got in touch with the actress and asked her about bagging the show, her first meeting with Smriti Irani and more.
Recalling her first interaction with Smriti Irani, Tanisha Mehta shared, "It was my first time meeting Smriti ma’am and Ekta ma’am, so my nervousness was double. We met during the narration, and almost the entire cast was present. After it ended, everyone went up to introduce themselves to Smriti ma’am, but I was standing at the back, too nervous to approach her."
"What happened next completely surprised me — Smriti ji herself walked up to me and said, ‘Hi, I’m Smriti.’ I was stunned and thought, of course I know who you are! That’s the kind of humble person she is," she said.
She added, "Later, when I met her on the sets, our roles were reversed — I introduced myself, and she smiled and said that she already knew me. It was such a surreal moment."

When asked how she landed Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, Tanisha revealed, "I had been getting a few offers for TV shows, but ever since my last project, I deliberately chose not to take up anything. I wanted to be a part of a Balaji Telefilms project. I auditioned for several shows, but nothing materialised. I was exhausted and disheartened after facing so many rejections.
That’s when I was asked to audition for the role of Vrinda in Kyunki.... I was thrilled at the opportunity and gave it my all. Soon after, I learned that I had been shortlisted. I waited for a couple of weeks, but when I didn’t hear back, I started to believe I hadn’t been selected. I was quite disappointed — and then, that very day, I received the confirmation. My happiness knew no bounds!"
She further shared that her parents were overjoyed. "My mother and my nani used to watch Kyunki religiously, and they were ecstatic that I bagged the show. They lovingly told me that I would be their ‘Tulsi Part 2’."
