Tuhin A. Sinha, a television scriptwriter for over two years has now turned an author with a book titled, That Thing Called Love. The launch will happen today with the likes of Pooja Bedi and Shekhar Suman reading excerpts from the book. For someone who started as a freelance journalist and went on to scripting episodic screenplays for Pyar Ki Kashti Mein, Dekho Magar Pyar Se, Tumhari Disha and Koi Dil Mein Hai, launching a book has been a natural progression. "I had a flair for writing and thus wanted to be a scriptwriter. Penning a novel was a logical extension for me which is a fulfilling and satisfying experience for me. For television and films the production house and directors are equally responsible for the work, but in a novel the author is responsible for all the pages in the book," smiles Tuhin who has also worked with UTV as an Ideation Executive before taking to script writing and has lived in Jamshedpur and Delhi before settling in the city of dreams. Talking about the book Tuhin points out that it is essentially about the relationship between three characters, which are not from his personal life but from what he has noticed around him. "All the characters have different takes on love, relationships and the institution of marriage. It is a tragic comic tale of the trials and tribulations of the characters set during in Mumbai, the first day of the monsoon where the two protagonists meet. Thus begins their journey and their relationship which evolves and culminates into a consequence which makes the story more surreal. Also I have exploited the geography of Mumbai which all Mumbaiites will be able to relate with." So what made him decide on Pooja Bedi and Shekhar Suman to read out at the launch? " Pooja has been roped in as she is reflective of the character which the book projects (that of an independent minded, full-of-conviction, spirited lady, someone who has seen life). Both Shekhar and Pooja are an unconventional combination I'd my eyes set on," points out Tuhin who is all set to roll out a film based on the book. Director Subhash Sehgal of Pyar Koi Khel Nahin fame and a product of FTII, Pune will be directing and co-producing That Thing Called Love and Tuhin plans to cast Juhi Chawla and a fresh face in his debut film which is touted to be a small budget film. Hmmmm a plate full with assorted items, a debut book, a film and a television show on Sony....very interesting!
