Pakistan’s legendary comedian Umer Sharif proposed visit to India has been scrapped in the aftermath of the Mumbai terror attack. Sharif was to appear in the Star One show Laughter Knights that commences from 12 December.
Confirming this news, Laughter Knights director Pankaj Saraswat says, “We were contemplating on having Umer Sharif as a guest performer in some of the episodes of Laughter Knights. However, we had to scrap this idea in the wake of the Mumbai terror attack. Besides, we also need to take into account the prevailing public sentiment. Just when we thought that there was positive development in Indo-Pak relations, an incident like this has splashed water on all our hopes.”
Umer Sharif had earlier made an appearance as a guest judge in the grand finale of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge 3 .
