We have planned some developments which will strengthen Mrs Pammi's performance: Prashant Bhatt

Prashant Bhatt, Fiction Head, Colors
Colors’ unique show Mrs Pammi Pyarelal, the tale of a man masquerading as a woman has not really set the TRP charts on fire. However, the channel sounds optimistic with the plans they have chalked out for its future tracks. In a bid to find out what the channel feels about the not so great early numbers, we spoke to Prashant Bhatt, Fiction Head, Colors and this is what he had to say. The man in charge says, “While Mrs Pammi Pyarelal has had a slow start, we have received very positive feedback from the audiences. Ratings for the show are also gradually improving. A show’s ratings for the first 5-6 weeks after its launch are usually a slow climbing process since the story and its characters require some time to cultivate. Previously our other shows like Sasural Simar Ka and Madhubala were also slow starters, but today they have gone on to become some of the most-watched and loved shows on television garnering strong ratings consistently. We are constantly working towards understanding viewers’ requirements better while showcasing a storyline that maintains the show’s concept and storyline. Gaurav Gera’s personality has now become synonymous with Pammi and we have planned some developments in the show that will further strengthen the show’s performance.” However, our source who did not want to be named gave justifications as to why Mrs Pammi Pyarelal has not delivered for the channel. “Ideally speaking Colors should not have chosen the 7 pm slot which till now has not worked for the channel (Havan and Jai Jag Janani Maa Durga) that too for a genre like comedy. The main viewership of such shows are men and the early evening slot spoils the party. What makes matters worse is the fact that there is no repeat slot at the late night hour, as repeats help to funnel audience towards the main time slot.” Having said this, our source compliments Colors for trying the comedy concept out through Mrs Pammi Pyarelal. Let’s see if viewers get hooked to the coming tracks in Pammi’s life.
