When Avinash Mukherjee turned Amitabh Bachchan's from 'Deewaar' for a day!

MUMBAI: Who can forget the famous dialogue "Aaj khush toh bahut home tum?" from Amitabh Bachchan's "Deewaar". Though even after almost 45 years of its release the dialogues seem to be unforgettable, so is the look of the megastar from the movie. A khakee pant paired up with a blue shirt and a rope hanging over the shoulder, it is one of the most famous looks portrayed by Big B on-screen. And our very own Avinash Mukherjee recreated the iconic look for his show "Shakti — Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki".

It was his character Soham's birthday and his on-screen family threw a Bollywood-themed party for him, where he slipped into the memorable look. He said he even remembers each and every dialogue of the 1975 film and also mentioned that though it's been over 45 years, the film still looks fresh.

Sharing more details on the sequence, he said, "'Deewaar' has been my favourite film since childhood. I know each and every dialogue of the movie. From 'aaj khush toh bahut hoge tum', to 'main sign nahi karunga', and 'jo pachhees baras mein nahi hua, vo ab hoga", to name some, I know all of these by heart. The sequence is Soham's birthday celebration with a Bollywood-themed party. Everyone is dressed in Bollywood superstar's attire. Somebody is Sridevi, somebody is Raj Kapoor, somebody is Nargis. I am dressed as Amitabh Bachchan of 'Deewaar'."  "I loved the film because of the angry young man image and also because of the way Amitabh Bachchan saab has performed it. If you generally look at films that are 30-40 years old, they are not relevant today. But this is movie is of 1975 and we are in 2020, and this movie still seems fresh, it will still give you that kick and even with today's technology we can't get this film offers. I am also playing an angry young man, so I loved the look, they have given me everything how this character and look are supposed to be like. I also appreciate the theme of party," Avinash added. Well, we think that he nailed the look, what about you?

"Shakti — Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki" also features Jigyasa Singh and Simba Nagpal. It airs on Colors TV.
