A page from the personal diary of Vandana Joshi When I started realising my dreams, I knew dancing is what I want to do. It is my passion and in the process of making it come true I joined a dance company and travelled to Moscow and other places. My ultimate aim was to participate in Dance India Dance. However, my parents were not very supportive of my decision. I know I wasn’t meant for a 9 to 5 job. Even when DID happened, my parents weren’t too happy with it. But later as the show progressed, after I was appreciated for my dance my parents understood and their attitude did change. From being totally negative about my choice, they are now ready to shift base to Mumbai just for me. During DID, Dil Se Diya Vachan happened. I had never given a thought to acting. But I am an opportunist and never fail to seize any opportunity that comes my way. So I grabbed the offer with both my hands. I changed base from dancing to acting. I remember during my shoot there were several incidents that happened that make my journey even more memorable. Before I joined the show I used to sleep a lot, at least for 8-10 hours. In fact there was a time when we shot for 32 hours continuously without sleep. This was the marriage sequence. That was the phase when I rediscovered myself. I realised that I can survive without sleeping too. But I do attribute most of it to the team of Dil Se Diya Vachan. We had a lot of fun during the shot. We ate a lot, played dumb charades to keep ourselves awake. There was nothing else that we could do too. There was so much stress but we had to think of some way to keep ourselves alive and kicking. I can never forget that time. I never thought I could survive it all. I am very happy with my decision, though dancing was my passion, I enjoy acting as well. Now that the show is ending, it’s a sad feeling. I have learnt a lot from the show. I don’t mind continuing with acting because I enjoy it. Acting is fun and I am also grateful to the team for being so supportive. I can’t believe the show is ending and I am upset about it. Right now, I am just happy with acting and hope to carry it forward.
