A page from the personal diary of Amit Dolawat I was a confused teenager who did not know what to do in life. I was good in studies but my focus was always on sports. I played for the Bombay (now Mumbai) under-19 cricket team and also represented Maharashtra in water polo. I was excelling in sports but wasn’t sure if I wanted to make a profession out of it. So one day, I went to one of my teachers and told her to guide me a bit on choosing the right career. She told me to try out everything in life before finding out my real vocation. After that, I did everything under the sun. My first job was with a 24-hour helpline centre where I worked for almost a month. I also went ahead and swept the floor for charity. Furthermore, I became a DJ in the second year of my college, but took it seriously a lot later when I launched a company Shiva Technotronics with my three other friends. We became popular and worked together for four years. Simultaneously, I also continued acting in Alok Ulfat’s drama group and I performed on streets and in tribal areas. I remember we acted under candle light. There were times when we ran for life after cops chased us for performing on the streets. It was lot of fun. After all this, finally television happened to me and I finally gave up DJing. However, Shiva Technotronics has become one of the most renowned companies in Mumbai today. It’s also gaining name in rest of the country. My friends still have my company’s ID card with them. At times, they ask me to re-join the company but I am happy with whatever I am doing right now. I have finally found my calling in life and it is acting. Acting is my true love and I will continue with it in the future.
