MUMBAI: Pyar Ka Pehla Naam Radha Mohan actor Manit Joura made headlines after performing an action sequence in the show. However, he believes that such segments are not very popular in daily soaps as the target audience is primarily women.
He said, “Daily soaps and TV cater more to a female-based audience. We know that most women don’t prefer extensive action sequences, which is why you don’t see many on TV. It caters to a particular type of audience, and when it’s an everyday job, you stick to the USP.”
“I feel that having an action sequence once in a blue moon is fine, but not more than that. Additionally, they are quite expensive and time-consuming, and on TV, there isn’t much time for retakes because you need to be ready for broadcasts. The budget is also not very high, so you focus on doing what you do best instead of experimenting with such scenes,” he added.
For Manit, performing that scene was an exhilarating experience. Giving a detailed insight into how the whole sequence came together, he said, “It was a good experience, and it turned out well by TV standards. The production team had hired a body double, but our body language didn’t match, so the director asked if I was comfortable doing it. I agreed without any second thoughts because I am an actor; it’s my job to perform whatever scene comes my way.”
“The scene involved jumping from an under-construction building in Mira Road. The site was available for only one day, so it had to be perfect. And I did well,” he added.
Pyar Ka Pehla Naam Radha Mohan, produced by Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah’s Studio LSD, went off air on September 4. Manit shared that he had a wonderful experience shooting for the show. Although he admitted it can be quite upsetting when a show ends, he expressed his gratitude for being part of such a landmark project.
He said, “It’s never a good feeling when a show comes to an end, especially when you’re working with such great people. The production house was amazing, and it was a fantastic opportunity to work with Prateek Sharma. I also had a wonderful time working with Shabir Ahluwalia. He is a gem of a person, and the best part about him is that he treats everyone equally. It was truly a delight.”
