Actress Shubhangi Gokhale of Lapataganj fame is currently seen on SAB TV’s latest venture, Krishan Kanhaiya (Garima Productions) as Kanhaiyalal’s religious mother.
Tellychakkar.com got in touch with Shubhangi for a quick chat about the show, which is getting a good response for its different story line.
“I am happy to be a part of this show. Ashwini (Producer) has a different vision and he always tries to experiment with his shows,” she said, while talking about the serial.
Why do you shy away from experiment with roles?
“I am a middle-aged woman and I know I won’t be offered westernized roles. On Indian television, woman are not offered to play central character that can raise their bar of talent. Women are still slotted into saas bahu sagas,” she said.
Have you been typecast?
“People think that I can only do comedy roles. Yes, television typecasts you. And I am not someone who will play a typical saas. The reason behind taking up this show was its uniqueness that every person could relate to,” she added.
Are you religious in real life?
“Not to that extent. I just pray and don’t believe in fasting. I help needy people instead,” she answered.
Apart from acting, what do you like to do?
“I like to write. I have penned down a Marathi book, which has got a good response.”
