It seems like Zee TV is on a roll hiring a production house to make a show and then firing it. Earlier it was a show to be produced by Synergy apparently shelved by the channel owing to certain creative differences with the production house. And now we hear that the channel has decided to take back the production rights of their forthcoming show Dahan from Endemol India. Buzz is that the show has now gone to Hats Off. Endemol had almost finalised the entire cast of the show and it was all set to go on the floors soon.

A source informs, “Zee has taken away the rights from Endemol to produce the show. They had almost finalised the entire cast including Farooq Sheikh, Yashpal Sharma, Lubna Salim and Jatin Shah. However the buzz is that Jatin will be replaced as he is already doing Balaji Telefilms’ Bandini. Apparently, the channel has now joined hands with Hats Off which will retain all the actors. The bone of contention was that the production house was facing some contractual restriction and the three parties involved in the project couldn’t reach consent. This was a joint production with which writer Rahil Qazi was to turn into a producer. Qazi had approached the channel with his concept which had approached Endemol to co-produce the show. Where Qazi would have looked into the creative aspect, Endemol was to look after the production value and other aspects of the project.”
Sharma sounded clueless about the development and said, “I am not aware of this development. If they will do the show and want me on-board, I will do it.” We also tried contacting Salim but she remained unavailable.
Where producer JD Majethia of Hats Off remained unavailable, Rajesh Chadha, Director Operations Endemol India, refused to comment.
We also sent a text message to Sukesh Motwani, Zee TV fiction head, but he didn’t revert.
