MUMBAI: The horror–comedy genre has been well explored in Indian cinema. Movies like Stree, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Go Goa Gone, Great Grand Masti, Phillauri, and Golmaal 4 have struck the right chord with the audience. This new trend is definitely being enjoyed by viewers. In terms of online content, we haven’t had many sitcoms in this genre yet. India’s fastest growing OTT platform ZEE5 recently launched a show titled Bhoot Purva, which is a wonderful mix of horror and comedy and breaks the stereotypical portrayal of a ghost.

Celebrated Hindi rapper Baba Sehgal has made his digital debut with Bhoot Purva, which also features Omkar Kapoor, Rishabh Chada and the gorgeous Zoa Morani.

Bhoot Purva is set in a small town. It takes us through the life of Purva (Omkar), a 25-year-old who forms an unlikely friendship with a ghost named Aarav (Rishabh). They studied in the same college but weren’t exactly friends. When he was alive, Aarav liked a girl in college. After his death, he returns to complete his unfulfilled love story. Baba Sehgal plays the interesting character of Yamraj but with a twist.

The unique series is a must-watch for its quirky storyline as much as for its performances. The chemistry between the Zoa and Omkar is beautiful and lights up the screen. Baba Sehgal’s comic timing and his antics as Yamraj are on point.
