MUMBAI : Minissha Lamba is known for her performances in movies like Yahaan, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., Bachna Ae Haseeno, and other movies. The actress is all set for her OTT debut with Badtameez Dil which stars Barun Sobti and Ridhi Dogra in the lead roles.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Minissha, and spoke to her about the series, how she tackles heartbreaks and more...
The series talks about two different people, having different ideas about love and marriage. But, what’s your take on the concept of love and marriage; do you believe in old-school romance or the modern day romance?
Seeing everything, what I have realised is that I am someone who wants one person. I want to have one relationship with one man. What used to happen earlier before dating apps? How much will you go out to meet someone on a Saturday night? How many times do you expect that you will bump into someone in a coffee shop and you will fall in love with that person? How many times all that is going to happen or you meet someone at a wedding through friends? So, one advantage of dating apps is you are meeting that many more people in a shorter span of time. A lot of times it happens that when you go out to meet someone and you meet that person a few times, and suddenly, the person says, ‘You know what, I am not ready to get into a relationship’. And you are like we were having a perfectly good time, what happened? So, the good thing about the dating app is that the person says out there, ‘Single not looking for a relationship’, ‘Looking for a relationship’, ‘Want kids’, ‘Don’t want kids’. So, it is very clear that this is what we are looking for. Now, let’s see if we are compatible.
In the trailer of the series, we get to see that Ridhi’s character is breaking things in a smash room. In our lives, most of us do face heartbreaks and breakups. So, if you have faced that, how did you manage it?
I think we need way more smash rooms in Mumbai. Everywhere out there, if you are looking for the next investment project, invest in break rooms.
You are known for playing the lead in movies, and now, you are making your OTT debut with the show. So, were you a bit hesitant to take up the role where maybe the protagonists are someone else?
We watch a lot of OTT shows, especially English shows where you have a stellar cast and there are some people who are playing a smaller role. A film is for 2 hours or so, and OTT is on an average a 40-minute episode; now how much is a 40-minute show going to be based on one or two people, you have to have a very strong storyline for that. So, it’s very important to have an ensemble cast, different tracks happen because this is 8-10 hours of story that you are watching, so the format is completely different. The game only has changed, so you have to change with it, and I don’t think an actor can sit thinking that I was like this and used to do this, so I will do that only. Pick up roles that you love, pick up a character that people will love, not to go in the ego of that it should only be about me.
Badtameez Dil will premiere on Amazon mini TV on 9th June 2023.
