MUMBAI: Director Mukul Abhyankar in this exclusive chat talks about his upcoming web series Bestseller. He speaks about the response he has been getting for the trailer, what made him say yes to the project, and whether he had read the book before signing the project.
Tell us about the response you have been getting for the trailer
The response to the trailer has been overwhelming. Even the first look poster had created so much buzz around that the audience was eager to know about the cast in the web series. The web series is based on the bestselling book; many people have found that fascinating. The trailer has created lots of curiosity among the audience.
Tell us what made you say yes to the project
Even if our producer Siddharth Malhotra had not sent me the script, I would have said yes to him. Because we have been working together for more than 20 years now. He has always offered me the best and completely unique films. 20 years back he has offered me the show Ssshhhh...Koi Hai. So, when he sent me the Bestseller’s script there was no point where I could have denied doing the show. Even the actors whom we have approached couldn’t say no to the project as it so well written script.
Tell us did you read the book before doing the film?
No, I haven’t read the book till now. Siddharth told me that we have only taken the soul of the book and 80 percent of the show is completely different from what you will find in the book.
