MUMBAI: Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan recently revealed the truly life-changing impact that her unexpected YouTube success has had on her longtime cook, Dilip, who has become an accidental internet sensation.
In a candid interview with Soha Ali Khan on her YouTube channel, Farah explained how the substantial income generated from their popular food and travel vlogs was instrumental in creating financial stability for Dilip and his family.

Farah recalled that the popularity of the vlogs, which feature Dilip’s charming banter and cooking, exploded quickly.
She noted that after their second video, the channel had already earned the YouTube Silver Button, indicating how quickly viewers embraced their effortless rapport.
She initially brought Dilip into the videos because she realised that filming herself cooking was more challenging than anticipated, and his presence provided the necessary punch and authenticity.
While Dilip was always paid well for his work in her home, the unexpected fame from YouTube elevated his income and opportunities significantly.
Farah detailed the support she extended to his family, stating, "I send his kids to an English medium school now. I put his one son through a culinary diploma course."
However, the greatest change came when Farah learned about a quiet financial burden Dilip was carrying. She disclosed that he was dealing with a massive amount of personal debt, a fact he had kept hidden for some time.
Farah realized the interest on these loans was consuming his entire salary, making it difficult for him to get ahead.
"He had a lot of debt. I don't know from where, so one year has just gone by, just paying off his debt and telling him that he cannot take a loan on interest anymore because whatever I am giving him is going down a well.
So I have cleared all his debts," Farah stated.
With his debts finally cleared, Dilip has begun the process of building his own house.
Farah is now actively trying to secure brand collaborations for the channel to fund the construction, hoping to provide him with the house "without any cost," ensuring he never has to rely on loans again.
Farah also admitted that the earnings from her YouTube channel, which now has millions of subscribers, have surpassed her expectations.
She shared with a laugh that she has probably never earned this much money in a single year, even during periods when she was directing multiple major films, highlighting the substantial financial return of the platform.
Beyond the personal income, Dilip's fame has also secured him professional advertising work, including campaigns alongside celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan.
