MUMBAI: Patriot Act With Hasan Minhaj enjoyed a run of six back to back seasons at Netflix, ever since its debut on the streaming platform in October 2018. Patriot Act and its suave host, Hasan Minhaj was loved and appreciated not only among Asian expatriates, and audiences in the Asian subcontinent, but by viewers everywhere, irrespective of race and nationality. Veiled under the guise of his sparkling humour, Minhaj often took up cudgels on behalf of injustices he perceived needed to be showcased on a global platform. And Netflix offered him the perfect podium.
Be it taking on the Saudi Arabian Kingdom for its handling of the killing of The Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi Arabian Consulate in Turkey, his unbridled take on India’s general elections 2019, Donald Trump’s miss-policies or George Floyd’s killing, Hasan Minhaj never shied away from picking up difficult stories. He took the bull by the horns on his refreshingly divergent show unfailingly, every single time.
His unique and incisive perspective on news, events and global issues of importance, combined with well-researched facts and information, added substance and teeth to his show. Patriot Act With Hasan Minhaj first made its appearance on Netflix in October 2018. It was thereafter renewed for season after season, with the last, Season 6, premiering on Netflix in May 2020.
The comic cum host shared the news of the end of his Netflix show ‘Patriot Act With Hasan Minhaj’ on his social media handles. Have a look at his Twitter post. Within minutes of his posting the tweet, his post was flooded with fans requesting him not to end his show, and about how much they loved Patriot Act.
Here’s hoping the irrepressible Hasan Minhaj quickly comes back on our screens, with or without Patriot Act or Netflix.
