MUMBAI: Rajiv Thakur is an actor and comedian known for his works in Hindi television and Punjabi films
He rose to fame with his stint in Comedy Circus and the Kapil Sharma Show.
His character on the The Kapil Sharma Show is loved by the audience and he became a household name.
In an exclusive conversation with TellyChakkar he spoke about the success of the show and on his friendship with Kapil Sharma.
How is your friendship with Kapil Sharma professionally and personally?
My friendship with Kapil Sharma is for more than 20 - 25 decades as we both came to Mumbai and worked on Laughter Challenge together and then from the last 10 - 15 years we are working together. On the personal front the friendship is so close that we can just go to his house anytime and we have that privilege.
But on the professional front he is very strict and he needs talented people on his show hence it took me seven years to enter his show and we created a stage chemistry that looked very real.
The audience felt that when the show was on television it did well but on OTT the viewership dropped down?
There is a misunderstanding there as the audience from TV were shifted to Netflix and if the show wasn't successful then we wouldn't have season 2 coming up as its an international platform and only with success and numbers it would give a second chance. Kapil fans have subscribed to Netflix and their numbers have increased all thanks to the love he has been receiving. Now the show is famous globally also and is recognized all over.
Well, no doubt that Rajiv Thakur is one of the best comedians we have today on television.
