Mumbai: Nakuul Mehta has been winning hearts with his portrayal of Shivaay Oberoi in Star Plus’ popular daily Ishqbaaaz. His enchanting smile and enduring eyes have got him a huge fan-following. With such immense fan-following, many actors are quite particular of what they do; however, Nakuul belongs to another league.
The attractive man has no qualms to play bold characters like of a queer man. When actors refuse to play such characters, Nakuul has already played a gay man.
Shocked? Don’t be.
Well, the actor hasn’t played this character on screen but on stage. It happened during a play called Cock, written by the award-winning British playwright, Mike Bartlett. It was during 2013, when Mehta was beaming his TV career with Pyaar Ka Dard Hai. In one of the interviews Nakuul had said that “the play does not treat the subject of homosexuality like films or TV do. It’s been done very sensitively and isn’t frivolous.”

He also cleared that he would never play a gay character on TV screen. In another interview he had said, “I will never be able to play a gay role on TV or even in a Bollywood film because I’m wary of the way it might be portrayed. Theatre is more open, and helps you garner respect as an actor.”
Well, this is indeed bravo and brave of Nakuul Mehta!
What do you think about Nakuul Mehta?
Maybe his guts to take challenges make him a class apart.
