MUMBAI: Talking about summer-friendly garments, it's high-time we also take a note of the summer-friendly shoes.
Over the last decade, we have seen how with the advent of Converse's denim keds (in various colours and patches) in the market, people from different age and gender groups began trending flat shoes - especially keds and sneakers. For a quick trivial flashback, in the '90s and early 2000s, ladies and girls very much opted wearing pointed heel and toe and even flat ballets as their regular footwear, while men (from different age groups) and young girls (during the exertion of any physical activities or for travelling/ hiking/ cycle-riding, etc.) usually opted for white keds and sneakers. These shoes were also a mandate for both young girls and boys at school, especially for attending their P.T. sessions and Annual Sports Day.
Coming back to present times, seems like within a short-span of notice (around the last 5-6 years), that old trend of totally and almost white footwear is making a comeback in the demand market by going parallel with the coloured, patterned and printed ones as they still look very cool and aesthetic with denim-wear and the summer-friendly dresses.
Why call it summer-friendly as white is necessarily not a very soothing colour for it's super-reflective tendencies? Because it helps reflect heat away and helps to keep the wearer's feet cooler. Also, white shoes and sneakers impart a very 'active vibe' to both an individual's feet and their multi-colourful/ monochrome/ black-n-white/ all-black or even all-white outfit's ensemble.
