MUMBAI: Read on to know what your favourite Bollywood stars are up to.
Wish to act in Bollywood films: Avitesh Shrivastava
Young singer-composer Avitesh Srivastava, son of actress Vijeta Pandit and the late celebrated Bollywood music composer Aadesh Shrivastava, says he is more interested in acting than playback singing in the Hindi film industry.
Avitesh, 21, launched his first single Main Hua Tera earlier this week.
As Main Hua Tera is an independent song, asked when is he planning to make his debut as a playback singer in Bollywood, Avitesh told the leading publication, "Music is my hobby and I want to collaborate more with international artistes in crossover musical projects.
"When it comes to our film industry, I wish to act in Bollywood films rather than playback singing."
Apart from music, the youngster has a keen interest in storytelling and performance. He even worked as an assistant director for films like Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon and Shoojit Sircar's Piku.
"I want to carry forward the legacy of my mother who was a very popular actress. If I am singing in Bollywood, I would rather playback for myself," he said.
Avitesh's song was released on Monday. According to Avitesh, it is not only a special occasion for his life as a debutant, but also because he is bouncing back after three years of his father's demise.
"I so wish my father was here to see my first music launch. Now I have to build my career and there is a certain amount of pressure I feel, which I am sure would have not faced if my father was standing next to me," said Avitesh, who lost his father to cancer on 5 September 2015.
Avitesh has always had an interest in learning both Western music along with Indian classical. And to explore the music of the foreign world, he studied at the Hollywood Academy in Los Angeles.
His song is self-composed and is co-written with Kunal Verma, in collaboration with two-time Grammy Award winner Giorgio Tuinfort.

Classical musician Ustad Imrat Khan passes away at 83
Indian classical music doyen, Ustad Imrat Khan, known for promoting the sitar and the surbahar internationally, has passed away in the United States at the age of 83, his family said on Friday.
Khan breathed his last in a hospital in St. Louis on Thursday after a stroke. He was unwell for quite some time and was hospitalised last week. He had been living in St. Louis for well over two decades.
"No words can express the loss… May Allah bless his soul," Khan's bereaved nephew, Hidayat Husain Khan, said confirming his death. The funeral is expected to take place on Saturday.
He belonged to the Etawa Gharana, which traces its origins through an unbroken line of celebrated musicians to the 16th Century, where training was passed down from father to son for almost 400 years.
Khan was the younger brother of sitar maestro Ustad Vilayat Khan and was born in what was then Calcutta into a family of musicians.
His father was Enayat Khan, recognised as a leading sitar and surbahar player of his time, as had been his grandfather, Imdad Khan before him. His father died when Khan was a child and he was raised by his mother, Bashiran Begum, and her father, singer Bande Hassan Khan.
In 1944, the family moved to Bombay (now Mumbai), where he learned extensively from his uncle Wahid Khan. In 1961, he performed at the Edinburgh International Festival. The year also saw his first concerts in Berlin and London and first recordings for BBC radio and television. He also performed at the Cannes Film Festival in 1970.
From then onwards, Khan had performed and recorded solo, playing both sitar and surbahar, and appeared at numerous music festivals across the globe.
The noted musician was disappointed that the Indian government never recognised his contributions, even as several of his juniors and those who trained under him were presented with Padma awards.
Khan had turned down the Padma Shri last year and expressed his disappointment publicly, saying that the recognition had come too late.
Disturbed by how some communities are targeted: Taapsee Pannu
After working in a critically acclaimed film Mulk, which talked about 'Islamophobia' and dealt with other social issues, actress Taapsee Pannu feels happy and disturbed at the same time.
"I am very happy with the way the audience has received the film but at the same time disturbed with the way some communities are picked out and targeted by the society," Taapsee said in a statement.
The 31-year-old, who played a lawyer in Mulk, wanted to bring a change in society through the film.
She said, "I took up this film to stand up for them and initiate a change. There were a few apprehensions initially about the character that I play, but I can now say with conviction that they have been put to rest."
Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film features actors Rishi Kapoor, Rajat Kapoor, Neena Gupta, Prateik Babbar and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles.
As Mulk will be telecast on the small screen, Taapsee and Anubhav want people to understand "what film has actually tried to convey".
"I hope that with the television premiere, the message is conveyed and people realise it, thus taking that step against creating a difference," added the actress.
Mulk, which released in August, did not get a smooth release as it faced a lot of backlash and criticism from people.
From the audience lashing out against the subject of the film to trolling of actors and calling them "anti-national", the film was mired in several controversies.
For Sinha, making Mulk was quite challenging.
He said, "With the response the movie received during its theatrical release, I am happy to know that the Indian audience is mature and open to movies that are against the tide.
"Making Mulk was challenging as it not only addresses but also highlights the constant divide between the Hindus and Muslims. The movie is unlike any other Bollywood entertainer and was made with the intention to be heard rather than just talk about an issue on surface level."
Mulk will have its world television premiere on and pictures channel on Sunday.
