MUMBAI: When talking about love stories in Hindi movies, what has always hyped the audience is when a well-known on-screen couple comes back as the lead pair. We need not remind you some on-screen couples like Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, Dharmendra and Hema Malini, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, and many more. With time, we have seen a lot of new pairs coming in and trying to make their mark but there’s one on-screen couple that has always got the audience hooked in Ajay Devgn and Tabu.

Well, the audience has been really excited to watch the on-screen couple once again in the Neeraj Pandey directorial ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ which tells the story of Krishna and Vasudha. The movie shows the love story between Krishna and Vasudha. According to the story, we get to watch Krishna finally being released out of jail after serving a period of 22 years and what led to his jail time is what we get to know when Krishna comes to meet Vasudha and has a hearty conversation.
While the audience expects a lot from Ajay Devgn-Tabu’s on-screen pairing, this time it becomes a little hard for the writer and director Neeraj Pandey to engage the audience throughout the movie. Surely the director, in the past, has given us some amazing movies and series and while this time we can see his trademark methods, it feels like the movie missed the mark and no it wasn't just by an inch.
What the story fails to convey, struggles to float by honest performances by Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shantanu Maheshwari, Saiee Manjrekar and Jimmy Shergill. Yes the chemistry between Shantanu Maheshwari and Saiee Manjrekar was strong, even the strong emotions in heavy situations conveyed by both Ajay Devgn and Tabu are pretty good but something about the story completely takes you off the course. With Neeraj Pandey’s method of playing with suspense and timing, the movie does get saved as it shows strong drama and notably so, the writing of the movie is engaging on a level that it’ll surely make the audience emotional. Yes, the writing was good but it did not save the movie. Surely the movie didn’t turn out as expected but for anyone who wants to feel that strong old-time romance, they can surely give this a watch.
All-in-all, it’s a movie that has very strong emotions, handled well by Ajay Devgn and Tabu and a good writing thanks to Neeraj Pandey. However, it fails to engage audience.
