On the other hand, Maidaan is directed by Amit Sharma. This sports drama movie stars Ajay Devgn, Priya Mani and Gajraj Rao. Maidaan is a tribute to Syed Abdul Rahim who was an Indian football coach and manager of the India national team from 1950 until his death in 1963, and a former player. He is regarded as the architect of modern Indian football and his era is known as the golden era of Indian football history.
Both the movies were postponed from releasing on 10th April to 11th April but Maidaan also held paid previews on 10th April. BMCM got a far better opening than Maidaan as the audience was more excited to watch the action comedy starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff.
When talking about the opening day collection of BMCM, it collected Rs 36.33 Cr worldwide. On the other hand, Maidaan collected Rs 15 Cr worldwide. Maidaan also held paid previews on 10th April.

When talking about the worldwide collections, BMCM collected around Rs 105.75 Cr while Maidaan collected around Rs 60 Cr. Both the movies collected unexpectedly well on their 3rd Sunday but on day 19, their 3rd Monday, the movies saw a great dip in collections. Now once again, on Wednesday, a public holiday, both movies did well but Maidaan did much better it seems.
