Mohanlal

Southern cinestar Mohanlal came under considerable criticism in the social media for a below par performance delivered at the National Games by his music band called Lalism. A deeply distressed Mohanlal in view of the backlash has now offered to return the entire fee of Rs. 1.63 crore that he had charged for performing with his band.

In a letter written to the Kerala government, Mohanlal stated that he was pained by the strong criticism and wished to stay out of controversy by returning the Rs 1.63 crore fee.

In his letter, Mohanlal further stated that he had undertaken the performance after he was approached by Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and state sports minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan.

To dispel even the "slightest doubts" in the minds of his audience, Mohalanl wrote, "I will pay back the entire amount of one crore sixty-three lakh seventy-seven thousand six hundred rupees. I hope this will bring an end to all controversies."

Lalism was subjected to severe criticism after they delivered a lackluster performance at the National Games despite charging am obscene amount. Among the many criticisms traded on the internet, few of them alleged that Mohanlal lip-synced on stage. Mohanlal official blog also witnessed a deluge of heavy criticism.

Criticism started the day it was revealed that Mohanlal had charged a hefty sum for performing. The actor however made it clear that the money was meant for the artistes in his band and that he would not be keeping any part of it for himself. Unfortunately, given his poor show, criticism only increased multifold.

It remains to be seen if the fee would indeed be returned.
